TERATOTERA is a series of art projects which take place in the area between Koenji and Kokubunji stations on Tokyo’s JR Chuo Line–projects closely connected with the community. Since 2010, a variety of events including exhibitions, discussion events and live performances have been held around town with the aim of creating an art movement in the local area. We are now seeking TERAKKO–the volunteer and intern staff who support the planning and operation of these events.
The work of TERAKKO ranges widely, from overall public relations to artist support to event documentation. Once a month we hold “TERAKKO-ya,” a meeting where we discuss the progress of projects and invited guest artists explain their activities. When it’s over, there’s even a group that goes out into the Kichijoji area and starts a wrap party!
For people who aspire to work in the art field in earnest, this is an ideal opportunity to learn about management through practical experience. People currently working as TERAKKO volunteers range in age from teens to sixties and come from a variety of backgrounds. Working people who are available only on some weekends are very welcome, too. A diverse array of people work in cooperation to make a project a reality.
If you’d like to be more involved in your own community and learn more about the arts, why not take a first step with TERATOTERA? At the briefing we’ll explain the event schedule and the work of TERAKKO for this fiscal year. We hope to see you there!
