BLOOMING EAST OPEN CAMPUS

Experience BLOOMING EAST on the campus called East Tokyo!

BLOOMING EAST is now in progress. Together with musician Kotringo, we aim to make East Tokyo’s public spaces bloom with music. This year, through research activities and experiments, we’re exploring ways to use and create sounds that quickly raise the “felt temperature” in a location.

Now we’re holding an “open campus” where people can find out about the processes of our projects thus far. Participants can hear talks by project members, and go out in the town with a “town soundtrack” produced by Kotringo to experience the “campus” that is East Tokyo.
If you have an interest in the topic of “East Tokyo and sound”; if you’d like to approach areas, people and things from a sonic perspective, explore the local character and history of the Sumida River area, or lend your ears to an aspect of eastern Tokyo…come see and hear for yourself!

What is BLOOMING EAST?
We make familiar public spaces bloom with vivid seeds of sound.
With the collaboration of musicians, area residents and students, BLOOMING EAST carries out research, experimentation and verification in eastern Tokyo–the backbone of which is the elegant and sophisticated Sumida River. In the same way one sprinkles seeds and gives water, the project goes and makes “sonic flowers” bloom in various locations.
