Tour-workshop-performance
This is a collaborative project between Sangatsu, a group who hold diverse musical performances, and musician Baku Furukawa. Players and onlookers constantly move around and mingle, making music on the theme of “play” as they tour Shioiri Tower. Even if you can’t play an instrument or read music, anybody can create music when it’s like a game. Everyone from young children to adults can therefore comfortably participate in this event. Join us and experience a new type of music created on Shioiri Tower’s last day.
Farewell ceremony
This is a ceremony to mark the end of Shioiri Tower, which closes to the public on this day.
Together with Tadashi Kawamata, Baku Furukawa and Sangatsu, we’ll be running a workshop to make souvenirs and musical instruments out of wood removed from the tower. Parents and children are welcome. At the ceremony finale you can also enjoy a performance by Baku Furukawa and Sangatsu. We hope you will come along for this last chance to convey your thanks to Shioiri Tower.
*Wood removed from Shioiri Tower will transform into Tadashi Kawamata artworks and set off for a new home.
About Shioiri Tower
Shioiri Tower was created by Tadashi Kawamata as part of the Tokyo in Progress project. Over more than six years, this observation tower has stood facing the ever-changing Tokyo cityscape and become a favorite with people as a symbol of the area, but its role ends on August 1, 2017. The tower will be open every day from 9:00 to 17:00. Come take in a view of Tokyo you can only get now.
*The tower may temporarily close for events.
