TERATOTERA is a series of art projects closely connected with the area between the Koenji and Kokubunji stations on the JR Chuo Line. Since 2010, TERATOTERA has presented exhibitions, talks, and live performances in these communities with the aim of generating an art movement in the area. Organizers are seeking volunteers and interns nicknamed TERAKKO to help plan and run these events.
Diverse volunteer activities include general PR, artist support and the recording of events. Once a month, TERAKKO get together at a “TERAKKO-ya” meeting to discuss project progress, invite guest artists to talk about their work, etc., with some members venturing into Kichijoji afterwards to eat drink and be merry!
This is a golden opportunity for people who want to work in an art-related field to gain some management know-how through actual experience. Current TERRAKO volunteers range in age from their teens to their sixties, and come from a variety of backgrounds. Working people only available on weekends are also welcome. Diverse individuals collaborate to bring about each project.
If you want to get more involved in your community, or learn more about the arts, TERATOTERA could be a good place to start. Come to the introductory briefing to find out more about this year’s schedule of events and TERAKKO activities.
