Oedo Vaudeville Show and Traditional Geisha Dances VIII

The ultimate in traditional performing arts entertainment!
A gathering of geisha from the six Tokyo geisha districts!

Enjoy an entertainment program featuring rakugo (traditional comical storytelling) and Japanese vaudeville, which blossomed in the merchant culture of Edo, plus traditional music and dance by geisha.

Part 1 is a short version of Japanese traditional vaudeville show “Yose”.
Enjoy the Japanese traditional acrobatic show of “Mito Daikagura”, followed by the performance of “Kamikiri” , the paper cutting craft.
The final program of Part 1 is masterly performance of “Rakugo”, a traditional storytelling art, which recaptures street scenes and life in the flourishing Edo period.

Part 2 features beautiful traditional dances performed by geisha dancers, and a performance by “Hokan”, a professional male entertainer.
They all come from six of the entertainment districts in Tokyo, namely Shinbashi, Akasaka, Asakusa, Kagurazaka, Yoshicho and Mukojima.
