Traditional folk arts from Tohoku gather in Otemachi

TOPACO (Tomin Performer’s Corner) Vol.6 will take place on Thursday, November 14. This time around, with the cooperation of All Japan Business Committee TOPACO is being held in conjunction with the joint corporate products fair “Tokyo JAPAN City 2019 Tohoku/Kyushu Recovery Edition”at the OOTEMORI Mall, which connects directly with Otemachi Station in the heart of Tokyo’s business district. Groups active in Tokyo will present Jangara Nembutsu Dance, Tsugaru shamisen from Aomori Prefecture and Nishimonai Bon Dance from Akita Prefecture.
Together with the citizens of Tokyo, in addition to supporting recovery efforts in Tohoku and Kyushu we will use culture to ramp up excitement in Tokyo for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, now less than a year away.

We are planning to continue holding the TOPACO initiative. Making use of a variety of venues, we will communicate the culture and appeal of Tokyo through activities in various genres which give citizens a leading role. On the official website we are occasionally accepting registration by citizen performers (limited to amateurs) who wish to appear on stage in future.
