For the purpose of conducting research for future projects under the umbrella project “Fantasia! Fantasia!: A community where lifestyles are made real,” we will implement an artist-in-residence program, for which we have invited art collective Olta. You can still find the old townscape with its nagaya tenement houses, backstreet workshops and narrow alleys in the northern part of Sumida-ku, including the traditional building that houses sheepstudio where Olta members will stay for their residency.We examine the accumulation of history in these old streets and the recollections of residents, and together with the artists use these elements as creative threads to think about the cultural ecosystem of this community and the people who gather here.
