It is said that a long, long time ago, a dragon lived in “Ryuogaike,” behind Ryoudenji Temple. Workshop participants will be playing music to calm the dragon. After the performance, the instruments will be returned to the earth.
“Shizumu Oto” is a workshop for experiencing the roots of music.
This is a workshop to experience with children how prayerful things disappear, like the origin of music itself.
Musicians will join participants in a performance using earthenware instruments made by the children. At the end, the instruments will be returned to the earth. This is an act of giving back something intangible to Mother Earth, like a gift.
With thoughts of the legend passed down in Tadao, we would like to offer up the sounds we make now, and encourage participants to feel that each of us today plays a part within the wider flow of time that will carry on for the next 500 years.
