An online program of firsthand experience, examination and discussion involving personal explorations of the city

This program organized by ACKT (Art Center Kunitachi) is now getting underway. As a first-step pilot event, we will run a participatory online program overseen by artist mi-ri meter.

“We will take back our own space by removing a social framework tangled in systems and customs. This is an attempt to reduce the distance between myself and the city.”
This program explores online possibilities to proactively attempt the things we are only able to do now, taking into account the current situation with the pandemic. As their invitation to the program, participants will receive “URBANING U_KITS” with instructions from mi-ri meter. On the day of the event, with their KIT to hand participants will join a Zoom meeting from their base at home or in their office, and under instructions by mi-ri meter will undertake tasks at home/work or in their neighborhood.
Participants’ respective experiences will be shared and documented via descriptions together with videos taken on mobile phones etc. and shown throughout the event on a screen in Kokashita rinji stajio (a temporary studio space set up under the railway tracks) at Kunitachi. Participants will undertake tasks in conversation with mi-ri meter in the studio, and the studio will also be open to the public while the program is running.
