TENTO – Vol.01

Genre:
  • Art Project ,
  • Others

Outdoors, abandoned houses, under elevated train tracks, parking lots, rooftops, dark or small places…This is a program in which tents are temporarily set up to serve as landmarks in the gaps of the urban landscape which are usually overlooked, and which play host to art action events. We will create an intermediate zone that is neither private nor an office, like a community balcony or open corridor, and while interacting with local people, we will change awareness and perception of these locations, as well as the framework of the neighborhood. Vol.01 will involve setting up a tent in Daigaku-dori street’s green belt and interacting with townspeople.

During the project period, project members will stay in the tent and use large-size maps and other materials to exchange information about Kunitachi with locals. We are looking forward to talking with locals about interesting initiatives in the area, unused land of interest, Kunitachi in the past, and more. In addition to the TENTO installation, we will distribute leaflets introducing the activities of the art project ACKT (Art Center Kunitachi), which operates out of Kunitachi. The leaflet is a single sheet giving an idea of the kind of projects ACKT organizes, so please take one. We look forward to seeing you there.
