“Counter Void” is a piece of public art that was turned off by Tatsuo Miyajima in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Relight Project is an art project that aims to transform “Counter Void” into a device for keeping memories of 3.11 fresh in the minds of the public. The Relight Sessions is a series of talks at which artists, creators, businesspeople, government officials, and others with various different positions in society consider the role of art and art projects in society since 3.11.
At the first session, artist Tatsuo Miyajima, Tsukasa Mori of Arts Council Tokyo, which has been a co-organizer of the project since 2013, and Akio Hayashi, Managing Director of inVisible, an NPO serving as the executive secretariat for the Relight Project during the current fiscal year, will talk about the future of the Relight Project.
