Sumida City Research Tour Vol.2: Effective Use of Vacant Lots and Warehouses

Genre:
  • Art Project

Through to next January, BLOOMING EAST is holding three “Arts Stage Sumida City Project Research Tours.” Dividing the city into themed areas, these tours aim to discover new charm in the neighborhoods, streets, and lanes of each area while actually walking around it, led by a guide with in-depth knowledge of the areas concerned.
In March, we will hold a pre-event ahead of the culmination of our research.

In Vol.2, our research will focus on the effective use of vacant lots and warehouses!
With a view to next March’s pre-event, we will conduct more concrete research while considering the serviceability of each location.
We will primarily tour indoor warehouses and factories, discovering vacant lots along the way. We hope that those with an interest in touring warehouses and factories and those with an interest in local research will come and join us.

Vol.1 “Sumida City through the Prism of Disaster Preparedness,” which took place on Saturday, November 7, started at the designated evacuation zone for the Shirahige district, before moving on to the Kyojima district – which, it would be no exaggeration to say, has the highest awareness of disaster preparedness of any neighborhood in Tokyo – and ending with a visit to the Tokyo Restoration Memorial Hall. Do take a look at the log that we compiled for Vol.1, which can be found here.
