Music Weeks in TOKYO 2011 at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall

“Music Weeks in TOKYO 2012” is a music festival held as part of the Tokyo Culture Creation Project with the aim of bringing new energy to the music culture of Tokyo and boosting creativity. With an eye towards Tokyo’s status as a leading global choral city, an array of programs have been promoted in integrated fashion with participation and artistic creativity as features of the events, centering on the theme of “voice.”
Through presenting the programs listed below, this music festival will stimulate the creative environment for musical culture in Tokyo, create new art and disseminate it from Tokyo to the world in its capacity as a city of art and culture.

2012 marks the third year of the festival. This year, the festival features a special concert performed by a superb professional choral group “Super Chorus TOKYO.” They will produce in concert all they have learned through the rigorous training they receive from world-renowned chorus director Mr. Roberto Gabbiani.
The Tokyo Music Academy is designed to give budding and young artists opportunities to learn directly from internationally flourishing artists in master classes in order to cultivate world-class musical talent who will lead the next generation of the music scene.

In collaboration with the 29th National Urban Greenery Fair Tokyo and cultural facilities in Tokyo, community-based “The Machinaka Concert” will be held with the aim of creating an environment for people to feel closer to the arts and music.
