This program is chiefly aimed at arts and crafts teaching staff at elementary schools in the Tama region. Through the provision of natural materials and large-sized material that would be difficult for individuals to obtain, and through the planning and implementation of workshops on traditional technologies, techniques, materials and ICT (information and communications technology), we will create opportunities that encourage the expansion of artistic expression and the plastic arts in classes. In addition to the acquisition of technology, students will be able to improve their knowledge concerning the spread and role of technology and its historical background.

In partnership with each institution, we will organize and archive information on materials and technologies as well as images and details of workshops and classes, building a network with teaching staff and the community.

In addition, we conducted research on the work environment for arts and crafts, based on interviews with teaching staff specializing in arts and crafts at elementary schools in the Tama region.

Centering around the staff from group home, the social welfare corporation Futaba Musashigaoka Gakuen, we create occasions for spending the days relaxing your shoulders and enjoying leisurely encounters with the people next to you through music, dance and moderate exercises to relax the mind and body.

A series of workshops consisting of fieldwork and lectures.
In the fieldwork section, to deepen their understanding of what sort of fieldwork is essential for activities in the region and how to put this into practice, workshop participants find their own fields, think of approaches for tackling them and what methods to use, guided by the activities of our guest artist.
In the lecture section, in order to develop our awareness of events, our perspectives, and our initiatives, we invite guests working in the fields of Minamata disease, Hansen’s disease, and social care, providing a forum for listening and discussion.
In the latter half of the year, participants will work on research and creation in their respective fields while keeping up with fieldwork and lectures.
