Profile

【Soho 21】
Starting in September 1996, aspiring creators from various genres of hogaku (traditional Japanese music) gathered for a series of study meetings, with the aim of creating a new type of hogaku while maintaining a foundation of tradition. In January 1997, 13 members of the study group launched Soho 21, and in March they established a literary division. They subsequently organized numerous research sessions and trial performances, and in May of 2000 they presented the first concert of their own works. Ever since, they have given concerts almost once a year. This concert will be the 14th. Once or twice yearly since 2010, they have also been holding the open class “Sousaku-no-kimo (Vital Points of Creation),” in which they analyze works and suggest approaches to listening.
