Outline

With the play and the stage music translated into Japanese, this version of Bertolt Brecht’s representative work The Threepenny Opera is a new form of entertainment that is neither theater, a regular concert nor a musical, but which includes a play, music and kodan (traditional Japanese storytelling). Orquesta Libre, a band of preeminent Japanese musicians who have pooled their performing abilities and powers of expression, the current most dynamic female kodan raconteur Kyoko Kanda, up-and-coming actor Yohei Matsukado and songs by former Tama band member Yoichiro Yanagihara, together form an organic and multifaceted on-stage connection.
