Profile

Executive Committee for Asukayama Takiginou

The late Shigeya Kimura, member of the Association for Japanese Noh Plays and general holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property in Noh Plays, began this tradition during his chairmanship in 2003 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Edo Shogunate. Since its 4th performance, volunteers from local ward associations, shopping streets, and companies have carried on this legacy and tradition. Performances include the well known Japanese Noh artists Mansaku Nomura and Gensho Umewaka. From 2013 it was held over two days and included performances by local university Noh clubs and associations that develop young Noh artists.
