Nationwide tour of “Jiman no Musuko” (“My Son, My Pride”), which won the 55th Kishida Kunio Drama Award in 2011. Sample’s second regional tour went to six cities – Tokyo, Nagoya, Mie, Kyoto, Kitakyushu and Sapporo – five of which were first-time destinations, giving the troupe a foothold for creative cooperation with public halls going forward. The troupe also enthusiastically conducted outreach activities such as workshops in Nagoya and Mie. Foreigners living in Tokyo were also encouraged to see the play with the inclusion of performances in Tokyo carrying English subtitles.

Theater company led by playwright/director/actor Shu Matsui. After his plays had featured in Seinendan’s independent production series for young Seinendan members, he left to form his own company in 2007. The curiously seamless style with which Sample actors and staff develop the fragments of the confused and mysterious world Matsui portrays has won acclaim across the generations. “Jiman no Musuko” (2010) won the 55th Kishida Kunio Drama Award.
