Kabutsu Theater Company and Kanjuku Drama Company, two theater companies made up of seniors (elderly people), will tour the Tokyo Islands (Oshima, Miyakejima, and Aogashima) to give performances. In addition to promoting exchange with other seniors through performances in areas not often visited, despite being part of the metropolis, the companies hope that the tour will serve as an opportunity to recruit theater companies from the islands to participate in the National Festival of Senior Theater Companies, which is due to take place in the heart of the capital in 2020. A total of 27 members of these senior theater companies will take part in the tour. The oldest member of the companies is aged 78.
