“Cantat” is a new term devised to signify the event/choral festival where intensive workshops, seminars and concerts will be taken place for choirs and singers.
Since its launch in 1996, Tokyo Cantat has been held every year with the object of penetrating choral music into Japan society and promoting the choral activities as a part of the culture. In 2017, the 23rd Tokyo Cantat, we will invite the distinguished conductors from abroad again. In addition to the variety of activities taken place during the festival includes the seminars/workshops, open rehearsals during the festival, we hold the Concert with particular focus on the beauty of Japanese poems and literature and featuring the guest conductors in the Closing Concert. Besides the events above, we had been held the Conducting Competition for Young Choral Conductors since 2008 once in every two years.
