This year, which marks the 50th anniversary of the return of the Ogasawara Islands to Japan, vaudeville-style Rakugo performances will be presented in Chichijima/Hahajima, Ogasawara Village.
People with a connection to “50 years” and the Ogasawara Islands will perform in the production.
School vaudeville performances will be held in Chichijima and Hahajima, giving elementary and junior high school children an opportunity to experience up close the traditional Japanese performing art Rakugo.

Sanyutei Milk’s Ogasawara Rakugo Association
[Founded] : June 2013
[Background] : Representative Sanyutei Milk established the association with friends out of a desire to share the fun of her hobby Rakugo with the people of her former home, Ogasawara Village (in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area).
[Objective] : Rakugo performances featuring Sanyutei Milk are presented in Ogasawara Village, Tokyo, in order to preserve and disseminate Rakugo as a traditional performing art.
Distinctive characteristic: Staff members are located in both Tokyo proper and Ogasawara Village, smoothly carrying out each year’s performances from the planning stage to presentation.
