What we do

Arts Friendly Area Exhibition, vol.05 (Machinaka Tsunagaru Tenrankai, vol.05)

  • Organization : Arts Friendly Area Project
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

The stage for the Arts Friendly Area Exhibition is the local streets. If art is in the neighborhood, many stores and people will be connected by it: people will meet, talk and communicate through art.
We believe that “connecting” art makes us happy; and this is the concept providing the support and impetus for this project.
The Arts Friendly Area Exhibition / Machinaka Tsunagaru Tenrankai is an exhibition linking art and people. Fifty shops participate from Toshima-ku (Minami-Nagasaki, Nagasaki, Chihaya, Kaname-cho, Ikebukuro, Kita-Ikebukuro) and Nerima-ku (Ekoda). Participants visit neighborhoods and shops while taking in art such as illustrations, graphics, photographs and paintings.
Prior to the exhibition, events, performances and workshops collectively entitled HAJIMARU (“start” in Japanese) and related to all the works involved will be held at the Turner Gallery. After the exhibition, MUSUBI (“end” or “fellowship” in Japanese) will be held at the Kitaike Gallery Portfolio.
