Over four years, mum & gypsy traveled between Italy and Japan working on the creation of this piece. Based on interviews with actors, the work breaks down and reconstructs episodes, switching the setting to a hotel and creating a certain place and time.
This project began with mum & gypsy’s performances in Florence in 2013, the troupe’s first outside Japan. The troupe met four Italian actors at a workshop given during a tour of Italy the following year in 2014, and in 2015 during another trip to Pontedera the group began work in earnest on the creation of “IL MIO TEMPO.” In 2016 the Italian actors were invited to Japan to take part in a work in progress show at Saitama Art Theater. The finished work was performed at the same venue in 2017. This year the troupe finally staged the work in Italy.
