As a project aiming to convey works by Asian artists to the world as Asian voices that transcend national borders, “Flesh of My Flesh” by Taiwanese playwright Lin Meng-Huan questions the food and population problems that threaten the world, and the situation that could transpire in Asia the near future. An international collaboration between Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, this work will premiere in Japan. The coronavirus epidemic means that artists from overseas will rehearse and take part in the performance remotely. The performance will be in Japanese (with some Taiwanese Mandarin), with subtitles in Taiwanese Mandarin and English.

A theatrical unit launched in January 2017, this platform for the introduction and production of stage works aims to boost theatrical exchange among Asian countries. Its principal member is Rieko Yamazaki (aka E-RUN), who has translated, directed, appeared in, and produced theater performances in Chinese-speaking areas. In August 2018, the unit received great acclaim for the world premiere performance of new Taiwanese work “The Brotherhood” at Shinjuku Theater Moliere. In 2019 the group staged six Asian plays in Japan as part of Asian Drama Exchange 2019, as well as three Japanese plays in Taiwan. In 2020 the group also held readings in Malaysia of Japanese plays in translation. In the fourth year since its establishment, the unit is slowly connecting Asia through theater.
