First year
(1) Creation Phase 1: shelf’s performance of “Rintrik” by Danarto, screening of a documentary film on the production process of Lab Teater Ciputat’s “Sotoba Komachi” inspired by Yukio Mishima, and an international symposium open to the public online.
In the first phase of the three-year international co-production project between shelf and Lab Teater Ciputat, shelf will use Indonesian writer Danarto’s short novel “Rintrik” as the subject, while Lab Teater Ciputat will use Yukio Mishima’s short play “Sotoba Komachi.”
shelf will perform the above work in Tokyo, while Lab Teater Ciputat will screen a documentary film of the production process at the performance venue. After the performance, the international symposium was broadcasted online.

Second year
(1) Creation Phase 2: Residency and Joint Workshop at Jakarta
Content: As part of Creation Phase 2, a two-week residency will be held in Jakarta.
For realizing this joint workshop / creation, both companies are now having the bi-weekly pace of the workshop and preparation from the mid of the first year. On the last day, a work-in-progress performance will be held, showing the small works created in the process of this long-term collaboration project.

(2) Creation Phase 3: Performance of Lab Teater Ciputat’s version of “Sotoba Komachi” and Residency and co-creation / rehearsal at Tokyo.
Content: As part of Creation Phase 2, in order to publicize the process of this long-term international collaboration project, Lab Teater Ciputat will present its show of the adaptation of Yukio Mishima’s “Sotoba Komachi” in Tokyo. The performance will be followed by rehearsals and creations at shelf and Lab Teater Ciputat for the collaboration project.

Third year
(1) Creation Phase 3: Performance of shelf’s “Rintrik – Or the Pierced Heart” by Danarto, residency and joint workshop at Jakarta
Content: “Rintrik” by shelf will be performed in Jakarta with the aim of publicizing the process of this long-term international collaboration project. The performance will be presented as part of the Jakarta Teater Platform, a theatre festival organized by the Jakarta Arts Council. After the performance there will be a rehearsal and creation for this international collaboration.

(2) International co-production “(Title TBD)” at Jakarta
Content: An international collaboration and co-directorship between shelf and Lab Teater Ciputat will be completed and world premiered in Jakarta. The performance will demonstrate a new way of international collaboration and co-production in Asia and open up new possibilities for co-direction. The content of the event will not only be a crossover of the texts of the two artists, but also a crossover of the two theatre companies, the bodies of their actors, and the similarities and differences between the historical, cultural, and religious contexts of the two countries, as befits the title of the project, Crossing Text.
