Shu Matsui’s Observation Room

  • Organization : quinada Ltd.
  • Section : Project for improvements in the creative environment
  • Type of Grant Program : Long
  • Art Forms : Interdisciplinary

Outline of the project

Shu Matsui is launching “Shu Matsui’s Observation Room,” a study group for contemplating society through theater.
People of any age, gender or location can join. The aim is to form a group of people who do not put emphasis on economic efficiency or productivity, who do away with social titles, and are able to transform themselves into “others” and participate in the community. The group will engage in work that satisfies on an intellectual level in a half playful, half serious way. By viewing ourselves with an objective eye as a “sample,” the aim is to lower the hurdles of crafting things and provide a place where even those who are not usually involved in creative activities can have fun and be productive in a way new to them.
Through a balanced give-and-take exchange transcending barriers between participants and creators, the group will create works with the aim of generating a cycle of creativity and will release a chronicle of the group’s activities in the form of video and text at a screening.
