Outline

KEDAGORO’s first stand-alone performance of a new work in five years. The troupe have created a piece about Kazuko Fukuda, a woman who in 1982 murdered a former fellow “hostess” bar worker, afterwards undergoing cosmetic surgery and evading police for 5,459 days before being arrested 21 days before the statute of limitations for murder expired. Rather than being based on factual record, the work is based on almost palpable bodily sensations generated by the intense study of one person, following Fukuda’s life from a unique perspective, and pursuing the concept of human sexuality through physical sensation.
This is a dance work symbolizing the physical sensation of a sinner by suggesting the sinner’s burden through the physics of gravity; a work that unfolds in stage direction which takes the audience’s focus back and forth between the ceiling and the ground.
