Parva naturalia for orchestra
Embracing viewpoints of historical context and future of orchestral music, four composers who are different both in styles and policies of creation have gathered to explore their works to perform them, and to share this opportunity with all the members. This is the goal of the “Orchestra Project.”

Orchestra Project
The four composers Akira Nishimura, Yoriaki Matsudaira, Shuko Mizuno and Kiyotomi Yoshizaki organized the first Orchestra Project performance on October 11, 1979 with conductor Hideomi Kuroiwa and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Since 1995 performances have been held once a year in cooperation with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. The performances in 1997 and 1999 received the Arts Festival Excellence Award from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs.
Under this project, composers who support its aim of developing a campaign for the creation and presentation of orchestral works hold a financially independent performance once a year to present new orchestral pieces.
