What we do

Recital of Koe Vol.2 - A world of sound and words by voice, clarinet and percussion trio

  • Organization : Noriko Yakushiji
  • Section : Artistic and creative activity in Tokyo
  • Type of Grant Program : Single Individual
  • Art Forms : Music

Outline

Theatre music is an attractive field: because the budgets and sets required are not as large as those for an opera production, it is much more accessible to individual musicians.
This also reduces the barrier to entry for audiences to experience physical expression and music, which is another big selling point.
In Japan, a number of works in this field have been produced by composers such as Motoharu Kawashima and Yoriaki Matsudaira.
In this project, we will present new works by both composers and a new work by Takahiro Kuroda, in an instrumentation that does not yet have a representative ensemble in Japan: voice, clarinet and percussion. In addition, we will present work of G. Aperghis, one of the greatest composers of theatre music in Europe.

Programme
♦︎Motoharu Kawashima: “Invention VII” (commissioned new work)
♦Yoriaki Matsudaira: “Le musée imaginaire” (commissioned new work)
♦Takahiro Kuroda: “sich ablagernde graue Asche” (commissioned new work)
♦︎Georges Aperghis: “Les 7 crimes de l’amour”
♦︎Scott Munson: “Tarantella”
♦︎Motoharu Kawashima: “Das Lachenmann IVb”
