Outline

The second in a series of five concerts organized by Satomi Fukami, Chieko Fukunaga, and Nanae Yoshimura. The concert introduced various aspects of the koto as it traced the footsteps of the composers who fostered a new world for the instrument. In the hope that the exceptional works created for the “koto of today” will continue to be loved, listened to and performed by many people for a long time, the concerts will also be made available online after the performances have ended as part of a “koto of today” archive created as one of the projects to preserve koto works.

Profile

The KOTO Executive Committee
Satomi Fukami, Chieko Fukunaga and Nanae Yoshimura planned and organized a series of five concerts in the belief that differences between koto music’s specialty fields and the music that people aspire to might make it possible to construct a concert series with a wide perspective, taking into account the history of the koto. The series introduces the koto from various aspects, in rich and colorful works created over the past 80 or so years.
