Outline

Six composers, each notable for their own forms of expression, were commissioned to compose new songs for all six vocal ranges from soprano to bass. Through collaboration with up-and-coming performers and composers, this concert explored the possibilities for “contemporary vocal music” from individual approaches, and allowed the audience to enjoy the appeal of each vocal type in one evening.

Profile

La Portée
Established for the purpose of introducing and propagating contemporary music works centering on new works, in collaboration with young composers and performers. The founding members are Koshi Uesugi, Norikazu Omokawa, and Tadahisa Nakamura. The group holds a concert once every two years (cancelled in 2020 due to the spread of coronavirus). Each time, it establishes a theme and concept with an innovative perspective, positing a new approach to appreciating avant-garde art.
