Outline

This project is designed to support outings into the city with children. Tokyo with its crowds of residents and tourists coming and going provided the model for the project, which is attempting to raise consciousness about places where walking or moving around is difficult with children in tow. In concrete terms, this entailed conducting questionnaires, interviews, geographical information surveys etc. to understand the realities of the situation, and then laying out the actualities of going out with children and ways to overcome the difficulties involved in an exhibition, a video work, a written column, a manga, a card game, a talk, online information, and more.
By inspiring interest and confidence in going out with children and raising social awareness and understanding that there are places in the city which are inaccessible with children in tow, organizers hope to connect the child-rearing generation with places where people can interact socially, as well as appreciate and experience art.
This project was carried out as an Open Call Project SOCIAL DIVE initiative at Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021.
