This work is a sound installation in the form of a performance in which one loudspeaker and an actor play a single role with themselves. The voice emitted by the loudspeaker is actually a played-back version of a pre-recorded voice by the same person as the actor playing the role.
The loudspeaker crossing the place from a mere acoustic medium, object and to actor, makes us examine our listening to the sounds produced by the loudspeaker.
The loudspeaker, who makes the sound heard somewhere in the past, heard here and now, and the actor, who certainly stands and acts here and now, gradually blend together and trace the contours of each other. What do we find and hear in the loudspeaker when our ears are focused on the loudspeaker with a role? The work attempts to create a transformation of our listening to the sound produced by the loudspeaker.
The word of the title “ubugoe” means “first cry of a newborn baby” in Japanese.
