Outline

Kafka’s masterpiece “The Metamorphosis” was the third performance staged to commemorate the 385th anniversary of the founding of YOUKIZA. Up-and-coming director Keita Shirai of Onsen Dragon carved out the essence of a human being in this portrayal of the thoughts and internal changes when someone is faced with an unimaginable situation. The absurd world of Kafka’s work was expressed in the synergy between the puppet design by young painter Natsuko Tanihara and the puppeteering.
