The aim of the Shamisen Expression Association is to pass down the appeal of the shamisen, a musical instrument unique to Japan, and communicate it to the rest of the world. As a project actualizing the Shamisen Expression Association’s philosophy of freely enjoying the shamisen as a musical instrument beyond its traditional aspects, the performance included original pieces ranging from pop to jazz in addition to traditional shamisen music, demonstrating the possibilities of genre-less musical expression with the shamisen.
