What sound comes to mind when you hear the word clarinet? Warm tones, register-specific individuality, soft-noted eloquence, agility… many composers to date have created works for this appealing instrument.
With this in mind, the members of Symnapse have written seven new pieces for this concert in order to explore the potential for getting more out of the clarinet.
These works are being premiered by current students from Tokyo University of the Arts who know the clarinet better than anyone. It will likely be a night where audiences will not only experience top-drawer performances by the students, but also discover more about the clarinet through its “chemical reaction” with the compositions.
