The aim of this concert series is the themed introduction of recent piano works from overseas which are rarely performed in Japan, the commissioning of new works related to each theme from Japanese composers, and the revival performance of older compositions.
The first concert in the series featured a program of works – all receiving their Japan premieres – by O.Neuwirth, B.Furrer, M.Eggert, and B.Lang, composers active in Germany and Austria, as well as works by Inamori Yasutaki, who trained in Germany. It was a performance only possible at Ryogoku Monten Hall, a venue which has always explored special performance techniques that make frequent use of the piano. The works were performed by Shinoda Masanobu, himself a composer who has premiered numerous works to date.
