2024 spring production of “afureru” produced by Campanella.
The theatrical production of “afureru” staged by Theater company 5454 in 2021 has been reworked from the perspective of a female university student by Shibata Arisu, who served as associate director for Theater company 5454’s productions “beginner♀” and “Kessyou.” A woman who cries and her boyfriend who can’t cry contemplate tears. Shibata creates theater that makes people look at themselves, especially the younger generation.

Profile

Shibata Arisu
Actor and associate director, born in Tokyo in 2002. Currently studying at the Department of Imaging Arts and Science, Musashino Art University. Since first encountering theater as an elementary school third grader, Shibata has continued to create stage works as an actor and director. She served as associate director for Theater company 5454’s “beginner♀” and “Kessyou” (written/directed by Shyunyo Ryosuke). In 2023 she also wrote the epilogue for the one-man play “Merry‘s mysterious dream” (written/directed by Shyunyo Ryosuke), performed by Chihara Minori. Shibata is representative of the production unit Campanella. As well as being an actor, she engages in a variety of theatrical roles including scriptwriting, directing, and production.
