TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2024

Outline

Aiming to create a new tourism culture in Tokyo, the third “TOKYO FLOWER CARPET 2024” was held this year, mainly at Nihonbashi Galleria. 200 citizens participated and created 12 flower paintings using approximately 50,000 carnations. At the opening ceremony held on the 25th, Honorary President Princess Nobuko attended, along with Chuo Ward Mayor Taito Yamamoto and Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly Member Nobuko Irie. In addition, 23 artists including Takahiro Kaneko, James Onoda (both from Kome Kome Club), Takako Shirai, Keiko Utoku, NORA (Orquesta De La Luz), Naoto Matohara (Undergraph), and Hatsunori Hasegawa gathered to perform the song “Let’s sow the seeds called tomorrow,” a support song for the Noto Peninsula earthquake disaster area of 2024.

【Hanae Cultural Association】
Founded in October 2016 with the aim of making flower art a part of Japanese culture, the group’s activities center on popularizing flower art and contributing to society. In addition, the group donates “flower sketchbooks” made from recycled floral materials used in flower art to special needs schools in Tokyo every year, promoting art education for children with disabilities. The group’s representative, Yasuhiko Fujikawa, is also a director of the International Federation of Flower Carpet Art.
