In this project, theater group Paprika took on the challenge of revamping a work that received the 66th Kishida Kunio Playwriting Prize.
Given in the Hiroshima dialect, the play is a detailed depiction of the lives of a family and surrounding people living in a town in Hiroshima, each experiencing their own troubles. With this production, Paprika strove to create the opportunity for audiences to see a high-intensity dialog-oriented drama in Tokyo.

Paprika
Founded in 2014, Paprika’s projects revolve around leader Fukuna Riho and troupe member Okamoto Yui.
With a focus on dialog-oriented drama, the group depicts the feeling of emptiness engendered by connections with people. In its portrayal of people who, even if they feel lonely, are not actually alone, and those who cannot quite grow up even as they get older, Paprika strives to create works that leave audiences with a feeling of human warmth.
Paprika won the 66th Kishida Kunio Playwriting Prize with the fifth performance of “Swaying softly” in 2021.
