For its new initiative centering on Roukyoku (narrative singing), a form of popular entertainment in Japan, Rakugo Attoza presented “Sakana Dehon Chushingura,” a new Roukyoku work in which the human characters have been replaced with sea creatures. The work is based on the story “Chushingura,” set in Tokyo 300 years ago during the Edo period. Rakugo Attoza’s aim was to convey the story to audiences of all ages in an easy-to-understand way.
The story, in which Chushingura characters appear as clams and squid, was performed by Tamagawa Daifuku in six performances over two days.
