6 sessions
Principal instructor
Musashino Sado Society (Dainihon Chado Gakkai)
Event features
Over five sessions, beginning by learning how to bow, participants learn warigeiko (partial training of the most basic movements of tea ceremony), followed by Bonryakutemae. On the final day parents and guardians will be invited to a tea ceremony presentation where the children will demonstrate the temae they have learned. In lessons that even children new to Sado will find easy to understand, the program is designed to enable children to experience firsthand the magnitude of Japanese traditional culture, to absorb aspects of it, and to utilize what they learn in everyday life.
Publicity methods for the recruitment of participants (collaboration, cooperation, networking, etc.)
In addition to introducing the program in the Musashino City newsletter and distributing flyers to attract participants at cultural facilities in the city, we will also publicize the program on the Musashino Foundation for Culture and Lifelong Learning website and social media accounts, in its email newsletter, etc.
Ways to enable participants to continue with practical skills experience (other than programs covered by this grant) after the end of the event
In addition to introducing Sado that can easily be practiced at home (including videos etc.), we will also provide information enabling people to continue to experience and enjoy Sado; for example by introducing the regular “Cha no yu” tea ceremony events that take place at the teahouse Shoroan, and the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony.
