Founded in 2016, Theatre Company Ampersand is led by Kei Ando (playwright, director, and actor). The company is known for its unique style, where everyday life that begins in familiar spaces like living rooms or offices gradually shifts, eventually transforming into an extraordinary world. This distinctive narrative style, combined with skillful sketches of modern society and unpredictable developments, makes their work captivating.
The play “Not the Time for That” (2021) advanced to the final round of the Kanagawa Short Play Award, and “Bones on the Ground” (2023) was shortlisted for the Kishida Kunio Drama Award.
