This exhibition featured a record of dialog between Taeko Abe and Hyunjin Oh about YOU ARE MY KNIT, as well as knitting and drawings created on the basis of that dialog.
The exhibition was held at Totan, a renovated two-storey traditional-style residential house in Taito City , Tokyo.
The first floor principally featured pen/pencil drawings and knitting works by Taeko Abe. Most of these drawings and knitted pieces were themed around topics that came up in the dialog. On display on the second floor were original Korean-language letters between Abe and Hyunjin Oh (Japanese and English translations available), ribbons printed and linked together with exchanges from a messaging app, and writings and related material referenced in their conversations. Also on display were knitted objects, a video work documenting the knitting process, and more. Visitors could make use of zabuton floor cushions and low chabudai tables, making them feel as if they were in someone’s home, and allowing them to experience the exhibition as if they were listening in on the conversational exchanges between the two.
Organizers also produced a booklet (in Japanese, Korean, and English) on the exhibition.
