Event features
This program is aimed at elementary and junior high school students in Suginami-ku and those students with no experience of Nohgaku or traditional performing arts. The program (TBC) is divided into three roughly 40-minute classes based around three different works. The story of each work will be explained, and children will alternately perform Utai singing and Shimai dancing by themselves. For the 2024 program participants studied and performed “Shōjō,” “Hagoromo,” and “Iwafune.”

Publicity methods for the recruitment of participants (collaboration, cooperation, networking, etc.)
Awareness and understanding of the program will be publicized through the co-organizer, the youth development organization Asagaya seishonen ikusei iinkai. With the support of various administrative bodies including Suginami City Board of Education and Suginami Council of Social Welfare we will also secure cooperation from local facilities such as children’s centers and libraries with the placing of flyers on shelves, etc. We will also post information on our website and share information via social media.

Ways to enable participants to continue with practical skills experience (other than programs covered by this grant) after the end of the event
For those who wish to continue learning and practicing after the course, we can facilitate more advanced training under instructors on this program.
