Koto players Reiko Aoki and Nanako Torigoe held a Duo recital at KAKUMEI Hall (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on July 20, 2024. The two performers, who have worked together for 12 years as performers, took on the challenge of giving their first recital in order to discover the value of their music by refining each other’s individuality, and to open up new possibilities in their future activities. The program consisted of “Futatsu no Kosei” by Bondai Fujii, “Chiyo no Uguisu” by Kengyo Mitsuzaki, “Wind God & Thunder God” by Katsuhiko Yoshizaki, and solo pieces by Yutaka Makino, “Theme and Metamorphoses by 17-stringed Koto “KAZE”” and “Kira” by Seiho Kineya.
Reiko Aoki
Studied koto and sangen from childhood under her grandmother, Fumiko Sato and Toyono Fujiki. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Department of Traditional Japanese Music, Ikuta School of Koto. While a student, she received the Joei Prize, and upon graduation, the Acanthus Music Prize and the Doseikai Prize. She has performed and provided music for many NHK historical dramas and other programs. He is a teacher of Miyagi-sha. Leader of the Japanese instrument ensemble MAHORA.
