With an updated image of the appeal of Japanese traditional arts, Kokon is an information website primarily targeting the young generation in their twenties to forties. The main focus of content includes:

  • • Introducing information on performances that struck a chord with the website team
  • • Reports on traditional arts training experiences offering fresh surprises and delights

  • • Interviewing young performers with infatuated followings
  • • Travel articles on an unbroken line of folk entertainment, and visits to places where the traditional crafts that support the arts are practiced.
  • The content provides multifaceted extracts of the charms and the world of Japanese traditional arts unknown to non-aficionados, and communicates information in life-sized, personalized language.
Through a commitment to articles that even people not familiar with Japanese traditional arts can read and enjoy, and by expanding the user community and nurturing fans and supporters, Kokon will contribute to laying the groundwork for continuing the legacy of Japanese traditional arts.

Kokon is made up of four women mostly in their thirties whose eyes were opened to Japanese traditional arts after going out into the world as working adults. It was formed in February 2013, and has operated as a website since March 2014. In November 2014 Kokon collaborated and advised on a special feature about Japanese traditional arts in Sankei Living Shinbun Inc.’s free newspaper Living.
