Business Overview

Since its founding, Reigakusha has been engaged in the restoration of gagaku works by contemporary composers and pieces that have been abolished. This performance sheds light on the diverse charms of gagaku through two parts: restored pieces and classical works, and modern gagaku works incorporating new styles. In the first part, "Heijo Sogo Kokyu," a masterpiece of Gagaku classics, "Sogo Kokyu," arranged by Sukeyasu SHIBA, the founder of the group, with a change of tune, and a restored piece of "Komainu," an extinct Goryeo music, were introduced. In the second part, 'Fables' and 'Bugaku-style Kumikyoku' composed by Shiba were performed. Bugaku-fu Kumikyoku 'is very rare in that it mainly uses gagaku instruments but also uses Japanese instruments, and it is rarely performed because of its large composition. By featuring these works, the appeal of gagaku, one of Japan's traditional performing arts, will be widely publicized and communicated.
