Business Overview

This is a two-pronged effort by the Video Unit Shinichi Takashima and Shu Nakagawa as a study group on video production and video media. The results were mainly produced in the form of a solo exhibition titled "Experience Unquestioned" and in the form of a book titled "Image Experience without Image". The theme of the book is "the kind of experience that involves video but lacks video content," and the new images presented at the solo exhibition specialize in the method of moving the camera without looking through the viewfinder. The book was compiled based on the concept of describing and examining the “images lacking images ” by limiting it to words, without any images or diagrams.

Profile

[Shu Nakagawa]
Born in 1980 in Kochi Prefecture. Photographer. Graduated from the Department of Visual Information Design, Kobe Institute of Art and Design in 2003. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munster, Germany for 2 years from 2004, and completed the Yotsuya Art Studio in 2013. In 2015, he began working with artist Shinichi Takashima as a unit called "Shinichi Takashima + Shu Nakagawa." In recent years, while engaged in the production of images as records, he has become interested in the relationship between devices with a certain scale, such as cameras, and the pragmatic and dedicated gestures of the users who try to handle them better. He has been producing images and writing in an attempt to find a causal connection between the habits of actions and the physical mechanisms of devices.
