Business Overview

Conducted the IO-2 project as a continuation of the exhibition "IO-1(Image Objects Exhibition vol.1)" held in New York in 2012. "Care: Daguerreotypes for Today: For a Time of Uncertainty," an exhibition of contemporary daguerreotypists, asks what photography has captured or can capture in a time of uncertainty, living at the mercy of multiple disasters, conflicts and pandemics. An international online symposium entitled "Photography for Adaptation and Recovery: History, Technology, and Art of Daguerreotypes" will feature lectures and panel discussions by curators, photography researchers, artists, and other speakers to discuss the socio-historical aspects of 19 century photography and daguerreotypes, as well as the current status and new possibilities of daguerreotypes beyond the image of "classical techniques."

Profile

Contemporary Daguerreotypes Japan Committee
Contemporary Daguerreotypes is a voluntary organization founded by daguerreotypist Alan Beckis in 2008-2020 as an international online community. More than 80 members from 20 countries hold free discussions and exchange of knowledge. The aim is to continue the foundation of the previous organization, which has led many practitioners, and pursue the world's oldest photographic technique, daguerreotype (daguerreotype), in the 21 century.
